About Pogwang

I'm Jongwoo Chung. I have run Pogwang, a startup in Seoul, since March 2022. Like most founders of small companies in Korea, I am also my own bookkeeper, filing clerk and assistant: the VAT dates, the card statements, the tax invoices that arrive by email, the notices that arrive by text message, the subscriptions that quietly change price. None of it is difficult. All of it takes attention, and missing one item has a real cost.

In September 2026 I handed that work to a team of AI agents I built on Anthropic's Claude models, using Claude Code. Since then they have run around the clock on my own business and household administration. They read my mail, keep one ledger of everything still open, reconcile my card and bank records, track tax deadlines against the actual law text, and research purchases. When something needs to leave — an email, an order, a payment — I get a message with two buttons. I approve or cancel; they do the rest.

The surprise was where the quality came from. Not from the model alone, but from the procedures around it: check the ledger before reporting a status, don't trust a single notification, read the statute instead of the summary, verify another agent's objection before accepting it. I wrote about what went wrong and what we changed on the blog.

I am building AI Backoffice because hiring a specialist for each part of the back office — HR, bookkeeping, tax, legal, reporting, marketing — is not realistic for a company of one to ten people, and generic chat tools wait to be asked. Founders should spend their attention on the business itself.
